The complete guide
Flavoured mushroom coffee: is a pistachio cup actually for you?
The biggest barrier to trying mushroom coffee is committing £20-plus to a big tub of something you might not like. Syptual's pistachio pouch removes that barrier — it's small, cheap and flavoured, which makes it the ideal experiment. Here's how to use it as one.
Treat it as a taster, not a stockpile
Eight servings is roughly a week of daily coffee, or a fortnight if you're alternating with your usual. That's exactly enough to answer three questions: do I like the flavour, do I like how it makes me feel, and would I buy a bigger one? Don't overthink it — just drink it and notice.
Why "flavoured" is a smart place to start
A plain mushroom coffee asks you to like the coffee and tolerate the earthiness. A flavoured one like pistachio does the opposite — the nutty, creamy coconut-milk profile carries the mushrooms so completely that Syptual can promise "no mushroom aftertaste." For a nervous first-timer, that's a much softer landing.
Getting the creamiest cup
- Make a paste with a splash of hot water first, then top with hot milk or oat milk.
- It's genuinely good iced — shake with cold milk and ice for a pistachio iced latte.
- Black works too, for a more intense coffee-and-nut flavour.
Reading the dose
Don't mistake "small pouch" for "weak." Each serving still has 1,500mg of mushrooms from concentrated 10:1 extracts and 120mg of caffeine from Arabica and guarana — a real morning coffee, not a novelty. So treat it like your first coffee of the day, not an evening one.
If you love it, size up to a full pouch or branch into the other flavours. If you don't, you've spent very little to find out — which is exactly what a starter pouch is for.
